Separated Unto God - Holy Unto The Lord Series

All through the Old Testament, God called His people to be holy unto Himself, 'holy unto the Lord.' This phrase appears in the context of the priests' garments and sacred objects (Exodus, Leviticus), and the command 'be ye holy' recurs throughout Scripture, Old Testament and New.

The New Testament ties this holiness directly to believers in Jesus Christ: 'sanctified in Christ Jesus' (1 Corinthians 1:2) and 'called unto holiness' (1 Thessalonians 4:7).

Holiness means separation to God. The Levitical commands set the pattern; 1 Peter 1:15-16 gives us the reality fulfilled in Christ. If God gets our heart, He has all of us.

We are called today to consecrate ourselves unto the Lord, to be separate and sacred to Him alone rather than to our own passions and desires. 'Be ye holy; for I am holy,' saith the Lord.
